Vine Leaves for Resistance
Imprisoned within carefully crafted systems, we sit watching shadows — reflections of life flickering across our screens. In such a world, resistance begins with something simple: slowing down.
The experience opened with a screening of Levant's Allegory of the Cave, drawing parallels between the ancient metaphor and the realities of our present. Guests were then welcomed to a long communal table, where vine leaves awaited them. The room was filled with the quiet intimacy of shared labor.
Throughout the session, poetry, film, and thought-provoking questions wove through the space, guiding conversations on resistance, rest, and the vital, often overlooked role of women in today's struggles.
In the act of rolling vine leaves, a powerful metaphor emerged: resistance can be gentle, yet persistent. It can unfold in the simplest gestures — nurturing, connecting, reclaiming presence one leaf at a time.
